I am currently a student at CCAD majoring in Photography. I do a lot of fine art photo work, but what I have been working on in the long term is documentary photography about Ohio, specifically small, old coal mining towns in south eastern OH like Shawnee, Glouster and Murray City OH. More recently, I have been doing documentary photo work about Route 40, or the Old National Road, and all of the old motels that have somehow managed to stay in business after Interstate 70 opened. Another interest is in long exposure photography. I really like to try new things with the white balance, and using long exposure photography as a different way of seeing things. Also, I included one example of a new type of landscape photography that I have been working on with the Lensbaby 3g.

Throughout my life I was the one who would rather look at the pictures than read a book. In fact, I can only name a few books that I have actually read cover-to-cover but I can describe hundreds of photographs that caught my attention. This is also true when traveling: on an aircraft I must have a window seat and I never sleep while in an automobile, I always look at the scenery.
Hence, photography is my natural medium. I’m the author and the words to my book are the images I capture. Capturing and preserving an image is true excitement. I cannot wait to arrive back at my studio and see what rewards I have discovered to share with others from my adventures.
Photography is my exploration, I want to go to new locations, capture new images, and discover and record moments in time.

I work in latex, acrylic, spray-paint, and fire. This process is derived from a ceramics firing process called pit-firing. I developed this technique several years ago after finishing up at CCAD where I spent every waking minute in the ceramics area. Having zero cash and even less desire to lug unfired clay all over town, I started working in this new medium and found something that I enjoyed just as much as working in clay. I call them Pit-Fired Paintings, hope you like 'em.

I am a life long, self taught photographer. I focus on landscapes, waterfalls, fireworks, lightning and my real passion, cars. I started taking photos when I was just 6 or 7 on an old 110 camera. My dad furthered my skills with his 60's Minolta SLR, which he still has. Over the years I just took more and more photos until the digital age. Then I really started taking lots of photos!! Today I have a huge collection and what you see here represents the best of what I do.

There is an amazing variety of beautiful, colorful life in the ocean and we try to capture that on film. Capturing the sun or showing sunlight while underwater is also very intriguing to us. All of our photographs have been taken while scuba diving at various locations in the Caribbean, Bahamas or Florida Keys. Underwater photography is very challenging but is also very enjoyable and we always find new and interesting things to photograph.

Here's two shit-quality photos of two paintings (could I possibly get any more glare in there?) and one weird-ass photo of a doll eye. The doll eye is a place holder for a piece that's not finished. It will be a spring-themed doll with flowers growing from her head. Who wouldn't pay 100 bucks for that? Possibly more pieces can be seen in studio 103... with snacks and beverages to be shared in there too!

I am a “Abstract Street Photographer” originally from Springfield Ohio, but have been living in Columbus Ohio for the past seven years. My work is emotional, in-depth and unlike anything you have ever seen before. All my work is done in the “traditional” manner. Meaning everything is film and all processing and printing is done in the darkroom by hand. I take pride in every print I produce. Photography for me isn’t a hobby, it’s a constant visual of my view of the world around me. Capturing unedited reality is something I want to unearth. I go hunting for my subject matter; I don't construct it.

I utilize drumheads, records, passes and backstage pass sheets and anything else that can be considered collectible to any real fan with my artwork done mostly of sharpie markers. I also design freelance show posters with the hopes of seeing them hung on telephone poles and on the bathroom wall at the Basement.

Context, content, the frame & the edge are important to Luke. He often employs a system of personal iconography in his work. Pop, Dada, Fluxus, collage, modernist painting, thrift stores, devo, Ohio, popcorn, charlatans, saw blade paintings & quadruple cheeseburgers are all equally important influences on the artist.

My designs reflect the endless varieties of color, texture and environments found in nature. Each bracelet is made with the utmost attention to detail. Each piece is one of a kind, made with precious stone chips, found objects, silver, brass, copper and a large spectrum of rainbow colored wirework. Often the pieces are inspired by daydreams and night visions.
My jewelry lets you explore your archetypal and elemental nature by helping you notice and honor patterns--themes, color schemes, totems and mediums you naturally resonate with. These are expressions of your own unique inner, or soul nature. Sadly, we are so often overwhelmed by the bustle and pace of life that we forget to remember just how magical it is, just how uniquely inspired we are. My jewelry has grown out of a desire to remember and record that magic inherent in nature and ourselves.
Regardless of the piece you find yourself drawn to let its “soul”—its color, movement and energy—tell you a unique story about your most persistent dreams. Let the piece evoke a sense of intention in you--the wearer. Let it take you on a journey ….somewhere that offers clarity and evokes a sense of the divine in you, the wearer. This is the intention I hold for you when I make them.
My own ongoing Soulsight has lead me to do intuitive work with many types of clients focusing on using the tools of alchemical energy balancing--harnessing the expressions of earth, air, fire and water in the psyche. the eye. My work is not quiet, it does not tip toe.
I am passionate about the process of creation. I love the
fire that allows the metal to be molded as much as I love
the finished piece. I want the viewer to feel a passionate
emotion, to be totally present in the experience. I want it
to radiate with energy; I want it to ask, “What’s
next?”

My paintings and works on paper represent a mixture of representation and abstraction combined with painting and collage techniques. I have accumulated a visual vocabulary inspired by an archive of countless images. Adapting scenes from television, art history, advertising design, and comic books I create arrangements of diverse cultural references. Each of my works purposely overshadows linear narrative. By juxtaposing unlike elements I am reflecting upon the complex mass media production that dominates the contemporary human experience.

I work mostly on paper, and a lot of my work is mixed media. I put less focus on materials, and more on the spontaneous process involved in working with them. Some of my work is more thought out, such as my silkscreens, but they still maintain a sense of immediacy and sometimes even randomness in their composition and subject matter. I really enjoy using text, and playing with its presence in my pieces, and I enjoy facing the challenge of trying to make it work in harmony with the composition, subject matter, and concept.

I am a maker of bottles and writer of messages. In my development of an artistic communicative language I have moved from picture to form and finally to words. Travel is an integral part of my life and the experiences I have had are corked up inside me. My art works are an attempt to share them with others. Through the synthesis of textual stories, imagery, and physical objects I create a message and a bottle that both contain and carry each other. Each bottle is my attempt at making a moment of my life real for the viewer.

For this event I'm entering 3 monotype screen prints on canvas and 3 relief monoprints on Japanese paper. The canvas works measure 56" x 29" and the relief prints measure 24" x 36". Monotype usually means a printed one of a kind work. Monoprint means the works have some printed relationship to one another but each print has been manipulated and marked to make it a unique work.
