History and Press

The C Note made it’s debut in March of 2008. Despite a huge blizzard opening night the event managed to have over 500 arts advocates and collectors present and sold over 75 paintings that evening. The event was forced to be canceled for the main event day and was rescheduled a week later. Through avid support and ongoing stories with the Columbus Dispatch the main event held a week later was a major success with attendance upwards of 4,000 people.

The event was covered by many media outlets including:

  • The Columbus Dispatch covered the C Note with a cover page story of the Arts and Entertainment section as well as a follow up to the blizzard story titled “Second Chance”.
  • The Columbus Alive
  • The Lantern
  • Hightlighted on channel 28/10tv news
  • This edition of the C Note will strive for the same level of coverage as well as reaching out for sponsorships from local media outlets for coverage leading up to and following the event.

With over 300 artists registered and more than 650 individual pieces of artwork on display. The first volume of the event was able to stimulate just over $24,000 in sales. With many local artists selling completely out of work and several artists who sold over $1,000 it will be hard to find anyone who participated that won’t be back with new and exciting work to offer for that sweet price point of $100 each.
