About the artist: Most of my work is made up of Concert Posters or Rock Art. Although computers are occasionally used for some of my designs, my preferred media is Sharpie markers (just like used for autographs by the rock stars) and Crayola crayons ( I guess you never grow out them).

About the artist: I am a fused glass artist and make an array of stunning framed fused glass pieces. I handcut my own glass, layer it to get the design I want and then fuse the glass together in my kiln at 1450 - 1500 degrees. All of my pieces are fused with compatible glass and annealed (cooled slowly) for durablilty and strength. I also incorporate dichroic glass throughout my pieces. This glass leaves a beautiful effect as the metallic coating absorbs and reflects different colors of light at different angles.
Joseph L. Schmo
About the artist: My work is most often described as graffiti art by nature, but I believe the term does an injustice to the graffiti community as a whole. Rather, my style derives more from the New Skool tattoo style, which was in turn greatly influenced by graffiti and anime. My preferred mediums are graphite, Papermate felt-tip pens, colored pencils, and markers. I have also been known to use ketchup, saliva, coffee, and thermafax ink (usually used for tattoo stencils) but these are purely by accident.
April O'Connor
About the artist: I mostly work with photography, but do some painting and drawing as well. Simply I love to capture the beauty that is all around us and to create some of my own as well.
Alissa Brunelli
About the artist: I am the midwest staff photographer for SuicideGirls.com, and I'm very proud of the work I have done for them, go check it out at www.SuicideGirls.com. I have always enjoyed capturing the beauty of people through my lens. I primarily shoot females, and I'm a sucker for brilliant colors.
Dan Gerdeman
About the artist: My work is inspired by conversations and utterances of adults and children alike. I incorporate irony, sarcasm, and sly word play with toothy hero/villains. My work focuses on how profound and pathetic we are.
Rob W. Jones
About the artist: I find inspiration from my materials, the process of creation, all kinds of art (pop art in particular), tattoos, and music. Music is the holiest of muses, along with the art of Bacon, Guston, and the Clayton Bros. These portraits are made from cut construction paper, acrylics, and ink mounted on wood. It has been a fun process working with simple school room supplies and listening to the Misfits, Minutemen, and Bad Brains. I have more work at www.artwanted.com/popdenial and I have been displaying work at the Ravari Room for the past three years.

About the artist: My work reflects the diversity between the chaos of city life and the peace of the country environment as well as the harmony they posses as one in this world. A smooth blend of Abstract Expressionism, Pop Surrealism, and Graffiti allow my use of mixed media to create a sense of depth and environment. I tend to work with paint from the sub conscience allowing my hands to move freely without thoughts behind the initial strokes, but then developing these shapes into the the beauty and meaning of the work as an end result. Just about every piece of mine uses Aerosol paint for the major bodies of color and details in acrylic and pigment markers finish out the fine details.
Ken Carrano
About the artist: Acrylic, Prismas and Graphite mostly. My artistic goal is to open your eye and help you see what is already there in front of you. I do not wish for you to necessarily share my attitude or thought process but to evoke your own. What many may view as grotesque or evol may actually root as something that is quite thoughtful and caring. Everything is a matter of perspective. Take the time to see!
Robert W. Walker
About the artist: "As each year goes by I become a little more
detached with the world that surrounds me,
while becoming amassed in my own world of
grandeur; a land still ample in magic, lush
with imagination, and submersed in emotion.
With each piece that becomes real and not
just a fantastical idea in my head, my
microcosm grows, and I believe in its
actuality, A place more real than the ideas we
are told we should believe, a place where
happy endings are relative, and madness can
be law, and everything, to me, is beautiful..."

About the artist: Channeling multiple perspectives, I try to combine cliche and esoteric, representational and abstract, form and void, solid and ephermal to define my own art. I'll employ most any medium, but prefer the challenges presented in applied 2d art.
Plus, robots are freaking awesome.

About the artist: I work abstractly in both oil and acrylic on canvas. The depth and texture of my current paintings reflect concepts from nature.

About the artist: Cartoons meet nightmares.
Durb Morrison
About the artist: Canvas doesn’t bleed! Having tattooed over half of my life, artwork has been a constant daily goal of mine. I’ve always had an interest in drawing things from childhood, usually humorous stuff or just artwork that had a lot of color, was interesting and fun to look at as well as being pleasing to the eye without limiting myself to a particular style. I enjoy working in many different mediums, whether it’s on skin or canvas. I enjoy acrylic and oil painting, tattooing, wood and metal sculpture, watercolor, photography as well as various mixed media.
Stephanie Rond
About the artist: The purpose of this body of work is to explore both the unique and quirky nature of humanity through the dichotomy of the human mind; the intuitive and the analytical. The images provide the intuitive right brain with a visual representation of our oddities, while the indexes and learned charts expose the left brain’s need to organize and label everything. This simultaneous experience is intended to capture the full spectrum of our strange and bazaar nature. Humor, being one of the most fundamental quirks that distinguish the human animal, is the vehicle used to expose the sides of our natures that are sometimes uncomfortable to discuss.
adam sherry
About the artist: Oil and acrylic on canvas to create portraits, landscapes, abstracts and sometimes royal messes.
Katie Niewierski
About the artist: I like the stuff you don't see. What people hide under clothing, what is inside a sealed cardboard box, how a shoe ends up on the side of the road ? I work with a form that could be a lot of things but I keep it ambiguious. It's something not seen everyday and I like the stories and questions it creates.
Craig A. Bortmas
About the artist: One $5 camera; One $5 lens; A fortune's worth of film and fun. And when detail must dominate, I even dabble in digital. The machines used to capture the image play an important role in how I developed, print, and finally present my photographs.
I approach everything with a scientific curiosity. My subjects are nature and culture, because I can't decide which is more interesting. In nature, up close and personal is the norm. In culture I am slightly removed but still voyeuristic.
James-David Mericle AKA Colour Junkie
About the artist: My digital work tends to be more geared towards in creating my own world, playing the role of god and designing my landscape for conveying my idea. My mixed media work flirts with the principals and ideas of abstract expressionism. It has the non-objective quality. The colour and forms and or style is what is shown, with the quickness of motion of the layering and covering then taking way to expose/uncover the layers under near. (got a ton more work if interested email me at james.mericle@gmail enjoi)

About the artist: Each painting is a moment in time from one of my stories.
Mike Reed
About the artist: What does a painting want to be?
Abstract paintings, big and small.
Abigail Umstead
About the artist: I am preoccupied with humans.
I explore the relationship of internal structure to external form as it applies to our bodies. Beginning with the skeletal or nervous system, I ask: ‘How do the muscles lay on top? Why? How are they affected by the position that the body happens to be in? If they are taut as opposed to slack, how does that affect the surface?’ We move easily, fluidly, simply; we swivel our eyes and wiggle our fingers. But the processes by which that movement is created is inherently intricate and, in the humble opinion of this artist, miraculous. I strive to portray this subterranean complexity in my drawings not only through content, but through process.
El-Amin Asadi
About the artist: Pencil powered mayhem.
Amy Spiders Petsch
About the artist: I paint portraits, abstractions, and color studies. I paint the things I care about--the environment, agriculture, people, and language. I don't believe in developing a signature style, that is too limiting, confining, and rigid. It is best to paint in the moment, with the emotion and thoughts one has at that instant, believing firmly that everything will happen the way it has to be. Good things occur spontaneously! And not without struggle! But I do believe in color and brushstrokes and using whatever is at my disposal. Amen.
Joel Archibald
About the artist: I am an artist and musician from Columbus,OH. My artwork is greatly centered around my music and all of its artistic aspects. Album artwork/ graphic and package design. Show poster art. T-shirt design and printing. Stage design/props/lighting. Sound altering by use of acoustical sculpture in an installation type setting. Calculated rogue photography. CNC router art.
My usual mediums include pen and ink, sharpie marker, digital and film photography, scanner and photoshop for compositional completion on show posters and albums. I screenprint by hand in my garage on all types of material, usually on t-shirts for my bands. I use a hand router as well as a CNC router for paintings, illustrations, illuminated sculpture, acoustical sculpture for installations. I create and build many interesting objects for bands to use at their shows. Example: if you saw The Lab Rats play at 2007 Comfest, I made the flashing light boxes that the robot girls were dancing on.
I am a constant creator/maker.
Stephanie Holzapfel
About the artist: I mostly enjoy drawing with charcoal pencil and ink. But recently I have learned how to paint and the results of it are pretty cool. I have also played with other mediums such as watercolor, colored pencil, graphite, photography, oil pastels, and sharpie markers. I have experimented with pointilism, tattoo design, still life, and surrealism. Overall, most of my art contains horses in all of the mediums described.
Jason Kroninger
About the artist: Anything for everyone. Take a look and you decide. I have never been great at putting descriptions on my work.

About the artist: Textile/Batik - In batik I am able to combine two of my favorite mediums, painting and fabric. I find batik most exciting because the results are only revealed at the end of the process when the wax is melted from the fabric. I enjoy the fluidity of the wax and the watercolor-like consistency of the fabric dyes. My pieces are created by several layers of wax, painting of fabric dyes and stitching on unbleached muslin.
Natalie Mancino
About the artist: I am the owner of Studio N, est. 2004, where I work as a Portrait Photographer, Fine Artist and Designer. My work is strongly focused on children, however I continue to work on my personal visions through nature, landscape, photojournalism and abstract photography. This work has given me the opportunity to travel and capture my experiences, emotions and surroundings through photography. My personal work is a direct extension of the thought processes and visualizations I encounter as I journey through life.

About the artist: Basically I am a photographer. Mainly I am interested in rural Ohio. What captivates me are the small towns, how these towns survive with little to no economy, the irony, and the fading architecture.
Sara Adrian
About the artist: The best way to describe my work is to say they are non-secular icons. The subjects are derived from personal experiences and observations, stories other people have related to me, social or political issues or a combination of each. I put them together in an allegorical or symbolic method, borrowing from historical and contemporary symbols, myths, & personal intuition. I want to set up a visual puzzle for the viewer, not to lead them to obvious conclusions but to show them a different possibility from what they may have previously experienced. Color is very important to my work, and has just as much symbolic meaning as the figures, or shapes used in the painting. I also like using obscure or forigen language or signs in my work to give cues to what I am trying to communicate, & give the viewer something to research if they wish to do so. However, having the viewer understand exactly where the work is coming from is not something I'm concerned with, I want to lead them on a path and have them draw their own conclusions. Visually, I derive inspiration from Retablo painting, Byzantine and Celtic art, German expressionism, Alchemy, world mythology, and Contemporary art. Scott Green
About the artist: I have been creating artwork ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon in my hands. I have always had a longing to capture the world around me, to show it as I see it through my eyes. Along the way pointing out injustices, humor, and the simple wonderment I experience in my life. I feel my artwork represents what I feel, sense, and think of the world before me. Extraordinary ordinary: I was introduced to Columbus early in my college days. Taking frequent road trips up from Cincinnati. Many years later I met my partner in Grand Rapids, MI, where we had established several friends that lived in the Columbus area. Soon the universe was working its magic and things fell into place. To the point that it seemed we were meant to be living in the Capital City. My partner and I both had lived in Chicago and New York city for several years. We found Columbus very welcoming, inviting, cosmopolitan, cultured, and open to outsiders. I wanted to share my photographic compilations of the most extraordinary ordinary city in the world. Vist my web-site @ verdantartist.com

Mark Peck
About the artist: Most of my work is composed of graffiti inspired paintings being very contemporary. I use a lot of bright colors and hard black lines to make my pieces stand out among the rest. I use a wide variety of mediums including acrylics, watercolors, ink, aerosol and latex paints.
Melissa Vogley Woods
About the artist: Sunbonnet Sue is a traditional American quilt pattern; the small characters are often portrayed in a grid layout with multiple Sunbonnet Sue’s tucked safely into their own block.
Melissa Vogley Wood’s interest in this character stems from its inherent ambiguities as a metaphor of icon and persona. In these works, the artist releases this intrinsically symbolic character to investigate the inevitable mayhem created in their encounters.
Kristen Rego
About the artist: Paintings, drawings and sculptural works that are representative of human characteristics;
Products with enhanced function;
Absurdity in consumerism
Luke Powers
About the artist: I make art objects. Some of the objects I make are more or less flat. One might choose to view these flat art objects as having some relationship to painting and printmaking. Some of the objects I make are not flat at all and thus bare some relationship to sculpture. I do not generally think in terms of sculpture, painting, printmaking or any other traditional category of art making. I choose the means of production most appropriate to the particular piece I would like to create.
Corey Aumiller
About the artist: I paint shrimp who look like people I know. Sometimes I paint shrimp that look like people I don't know, like Jesus or Superman. I paint shrimp because I used to work at a Dairy Queen, my friend thought DQ Shrimp Baskets were funny, and the only thing to do in the winter was doodle on store property with a Sharpie. I also make films and photos.
Adam Crum
About the artist: Big portraits that are kind of scary, and kind of honest, simultaneously

Kyle Ford
About the artist: Exploration of combination. Visual or textual syntax offering associations albeit elusive ones. Varying processes and mediums collide. Oil, acrylic, latex, canvas, acetate, paper, wood, whatever necessary and available.
Gabe Spiegel
About the artist: Abstract painting is theraputic to me. I love to use acrylics/oil on canvas. Most of my work is abstract -- yet a controlled chaos. There's always a fun design. I hope you enjoy it... because I always have fun making it.
J. David Mitchell
About the artist: I am a 3-dimensional artist working primarily in metal and stone. My current work is focussed primarily on figurative studies, and the exploration of the gentle sweeping lines of the human form. The process for these studies is something that is continually evolving and changing. The traditional techniques and tools of manufacturing have been redesigned and re-engineered in my studio to make these pieces, creating tooling and machines that are as unique as the pieces of art themsleves.
Chris James
About the artist: My work makes me feel. My audience should be able to relate to me through these pieces.

Alisa Courtney
About the artist: "With her new series she has taken traditional still life objects and landscapes and merged them with an abstract style involving natural motion. She prides herself on producing finished pieces that are completely straight from the camera. The effects achieved can only be described as impressive and easily compared to the early movements of Impressionism and the Avant-garde." ......

Elaine Freeman
About the artist: I am first and foremost a landscape painter although I paint figures and still life as well. I work mainly in pastel or oil but sometimes use pastel over oil, a technique I discovered while exploring alternative art effects. I love painting the lake areas, marshes, wetlands, dunes and the forests. Much of my paintings are done outdoors. I am very active in the Ohio Plein Air Society and take part in their paintouts and competitions. My work can be described as expressionist and sometimes abstract expressionist. My purpose in painting is to explore my visions and to encourage the viewer to enjoy the interpretive aspect of art.
shannon lawrence
About the artist: i use mainly acrylics on stretched canvas. most of my work tends to lean toward creepy, abstracty visuals of sorts. if a piece i've finished can make me giggle a little everytime i look at it, i feel absolutely accomplished.
Adam Brouillette
About the artist: I utilize bright colors and bubbly characters to attract a viewer, and am most satisfied when someone connects to the work in that way, only to discover content subverted by the design. I see this as how advertising and cartoons work and I strive for it. I utilize familiar information to provide the viewer with a basic construct for understanding the ideas I am trying to convey.
Chuck Coker
About the artist: I create carvings and sculptures using PVC Pipe Material. Finished product looks like porcelan or ivory. If the PVC was lying in a land fill, it would last a thousand years. I hope my artwork will last that long.

Bobbi Priebe
About the artist: Paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor. I have yet to find my style--after40+ years of painting-- some are cubist, some are realistic landscapes, some are surreal. I exhibit at Artworks Around Town, a gallery in Wheeling, WV. Artworks is a group of local artists juried into the gallery. We are a non-profit organization. We pay rent for our spaces, work one day a month at the gallery, and exhibit student work and guest artists that change each month. Perhaps you might be interested in exhibiting at our gallery at some future date. I thank you for your efforts to expand art appreciation. My smile becomes a grimace when a potential buyer says, "I'm interested in buying a piece with purple and yellow in it because those are the colors in my room." I don't think I have described my work very well, but I have vented on my problems with selling work in our area. Once again, I thank you for what you are trying to do.
Sincerely, Bobbi Priebe

About the artist: My latest work is from my "Close-Up" series. I am exploring the borderline between the familar and the unrecognizable; the representational and the abstract. The paintings for the Cnote show are watercolors on pastel board with an acrylic finish.
Michael Ponchot
About the artist: Michael Ponchot first became intrigued by using industrial quality oil paints while studying art
at Edison State & Columbus College of Art & Design. He also works as a graphic artist with
a local sign store, INEX Signs. In 1999, he developed his swirld' background with vinyl overlay
technique, but believes that he has "only scratched the surface of its possibilities." His work
is represented by Mac Worthington in Columbus' Short North art district.
David Mihaly
About the artist: After World War II, America entered a golden age of jazz. My passion for this music has led to a series of jazz portraits each striving to create a mood, evoke an era, even a sound. The use of acrylic on canvas allows me to apply many layers of paint, letting some of the underlying layers show through to achieve a texture that recalls the smoky atmosphere of the clubs where the music was born. This era is represented here by zoot suits and fedoras, rhythm and horns.
Niki Zmij
About the artist: In utilizing simple lines and shapes, layers, and a myriad of materials I am fueling an exploration of the subconscious and intuitive aspects of the human mind. Water color, acrylic, ink, and charcole are what i work with now, i use to work with ceramics and did a little photography but not recently. My work will be either something that just happens while i am drawing and i let it flow out, or it's been an idea, vision or dream of something that i will work on for some time.Women, floral, children and landscapes tend to be the subjects of my drawings and paintings. My wish is that the color, lines and movement of my work would capture the eye and portray at least a little of my thoughts.

About the artist: I have been creating ceramic artwork for the past four years, and am majoring in fine arts with an emphasis in ceramics at CCAD. My work is a spontaneous thing. I don't usually full-out plan anything that i do, i just like to go with the flow and put what i am feeling at that time into the shapes/sizes/glazes that i use. (unless being commissioned for work) Most of my work is more abstract than most traditional ceramic works, and likewise, isn't necessarily as functional as most traditional work either. I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as i enjoy creating it!

About the artist: My watercolors use expressive detail color and watercolor specific effects to give a naturalistic feel to an image that is expressive. My photography is all film based and hand developed. Light is an important aspect in all of my work.

About the artist: I like to explore the ever existent theme of duality in everything we see. Photography in essence is the study of the marriage of light and dark. Joy to sorrow, life to death to rebirth, wealth to poverty, male to female, the yin and yang of our lives.
